Robin Dye Interiors

Robin's Story

My business began in 1999, and I truly believe my business found me. I was often styling my friends' mantles, or rearranging their bookcases. A woman in my Bible study asked me to help decorate her home but she insisted that I get business cards, send her a professional invoice, and get paid for doing what I love! That was the beginning! My kids were babies at the time, and I was a full-time mom. Knowing they would eventually grow up and leave home, I wanted to start growing my business so I could dive in during that phase of my life. I began attending Dallas Market twice a year to stay current with colors, trends, and styles. r now attend market in Atlanta and Las Vegas, as
well. When we moved from Grapevine to The Woodlands in 1997, Mike Seder was our realtor. Mike was my first friend in the area, and he took care of us like family. From time to time, Mike and his wife, Ally, hired me to find pieces for their home, decorate their home for Christmas, or accessorize their bookcases. From there, Mike began referring me to his real estate clients for home staging consultations. That's when things really got fun and exciting! I realized this was a perfect fit for my skill set and abilities. I love coming alongside people during the emotional and stressful time of preparing to move. Having Mike Seder believe in you is like having Oprah Winfrey read your book! He and Ally are a huge blessing to me, as well as incredible mentors.

Robin's Approach

My mom moved to The Woodlands in 2007, and she joins me at most of my staging appointments! She is a huge source of strength and encouragement to me, and I never dreamed that working could be this much FUN! During one of those staging consultations in 2015, I met John and Stacei Bible. John casually mentioned that he was going to build a new townhome development in East Shore, and he wondered if I might be interested in working as their in-house selection
coordinator. The timing couldn't have been more perfect with both kids in college at that time. I began working with Waterway Builders in July 2016. I spent about 5 months selecting the materials for the design center: wood flooring, granite, quartz and marble countertops, decorative tile, plumbing fixtures, carpet - the works! I fully furnished and decorated the model home as well. The 59-unit subdivision will be completed in 2020.
In 2016, I decided to add window coverings to my list of offerings.
knew I needed a partner, and my dear friend, Andrea Byrd, became the "B" to my "D" as D&B Design Elements was formed. We represent Hunter Douglas, and also have a workroom to provide all custom fabric treatments including drapery panels, roman shades, etc. This service is especially beneficial to my clients moving into new homes, as well as clients who are updating their current homes. God equips me every single day to meet the challenges and demands of this work. I believe in life-long learning, being scrappy and resourceful, working hard, and taking risks. My husband, Chet, and I have been married since 1989, and we're enjoying life as empty nesters in The Woodlands. His support and encouragement are priceless to me! We are blessed to have both of our grown children living in the Houston area. Being a mom will always be my life's greatest work!
